Stay With Us!

We went to the Simonga Church this morning, way out in the bush.  And I do mean way out.  And I do mean bush!  Well, it was about 30 minutes away, but it might as well have been hundreds for all the appearances of civilization.  I felt as if we had driven into some kind of a time warp and ended up in a missionary book from the 1960s!  But the welcome we received at the Maranatha-built church in the bush was every bit twenty-first century:  warm and welcome.  "Stay With Us!" they said in their greeting.  And with did for a few hours.

This church is located very near one of the medical clinics that our medical people have been working at.  There is a school there as well with the motto of "Academic excellence through hard work."  Great motto, don't you think?!  They brought together musical groups from two other churches to treat us to beautiful music in their native tongue as well as English.  This group was called The Revelation Singers.

The three ladies are from Livingstone and road to and from the church on the bus I rode on.  They sang to us all the way back from the afternoon service.  A nice treat!

It was a cozy experience to pack ourselves into the church with the regular members and the visiting music groups.  At once point Dr. Muncy told me that it was 93 degrees where we were sitting (at the back near the door and next to a window that gave us a cool breeze.  I imagine it was much warmer for most people in that building.

After the church service (Pastor Araujo spoke), we ate our lunch under and covered cement slab behind the church and then enjoyed a mini-concert from the morning's music groups.  We contributed a bit as well with Alex, Eric, Brooke, Mrs. Maloon, and Pastor Jay singing for us.

We had to rush off after the concert to get back in time to change and go off to VBS and the Evangelistic meeting.  We go for pizza with the Division VP and his wife after that.  My battery is drained (again).  It goes awfully quickly here.  I'll write more tomorrow.  Good night, and God bless!
